Thinking About the U.S. Military’s Next-Generation UAS Force
OSD Office of Net Assessment · September 2013 · 112 pp. · HQ0034-09-D-3007-0013
Pre-MH370 OSD-commissioned report. Gorgon Stare / ARGUS-IS / ARGUS-IR: multi-lens arrays, lower frame rate and resolution than HD FMV, areas up to ~40 km². Comparison figure labels conventional FMV 30 fps and Gorgon Stare 2 fps.
Located in the DoD FOIA Reading Room. Also states that by 2013 satellite data links permitted remote operators to control RPVs through all mission phases and return geolocated EO/IR or SAR in near-real time, and notes the bandwidth penalty of wide-area sensors. Strong general capability context. Not evidence concerning 9M-MRO. The 2 fps figure is contemporaneous primary evidence against later claims that a ~6 fps internet-video cadence ‘matches Gorgon Stare Increment 2.’ Sensor-native capture, encoded/display rate and screen-recording cadence must be separated before any numerical match is used as authentication.
