JORN not tasked the night of 7–8 March 2014
Australian over-the-horizon radar · peacetime status
Wikipedia and Australian statements: Jindalee Operational Radar Network was not operational / not tasked that night. Absence of a JORN track is not a northern-path proof.
JORN is a skywave OTH radar that can, when radiating and correctly tasked, see into the Indian Ocean approaches. Public Australian language is that it was not operational for this event given peacetime tasking, ionosphere and the unknown path. Independent commentators argue geometric coverage of a southbound 777 later in the night if it had been on. File the official non-detection as a fact about tasking, not as a sensor that cleared the southern ocean.
