IGARI is a published waypoint in the Gulf of Thailand, on the flight-information-region boundary. MH370 was estimated over IGARI at 17:20:31 UTC. Transfer of control to Ho Chi Minh ACC should have been routine. Instead, Vietnamese controllers never acquired the flight on radio, and secondary radar contact ended at 17:21:13 UTC. The subsequent primary-radar track shows the aircraft turning back across the Malay Peninsula rather than continuing toward BITOD and Beijing.
