Flap-track fairing found in Mozambique
27 December 2015 / identified 2016
A right-wing no. 7 flap support fairing is recovered at Daghatane Beach, Mozambique. Stencilling matches Malaysia Airlines practice; ATSB judges it almost certainly MH370.
Independent searcher Blaine Gibson and others recovered several pieces on Mozambique and Madagascar beaches in late 2015 and 2016. Item 2 in the Malaysian debris summary — a right-wing flap support fairing with stencil “676EB” consistent with MAS maintenance — was examined by the ATSB and classified almost certain. It is part of the western-Indian-Ocean debris field that CSIRO reverse-drifted back toward the 7th arc.
