Malaysia extends the search contract to June 2027

Cabinet extends the Ocean Infinity agreement from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 to finish a remaining 7,428.54 km². No-find-no-fee terms continue.
On 29 June 2026 Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that cabinet had extended the Ocean Infinity agreement for twelve months to 30 June 2027, covering a remaining 7,428.54 km² of the priority area. Primary search assets are expected to be redeployed to other commercial work between November 2026 and April 2027, so the southern-ocean weather window — not a continuous patrol — still governs when ships can actually look. As of September 2026 the main wreckage has not been found.
