Two operational phases survey about 7,571 km² of a 15,000 km² priority box. Malaysia’s 8 March 2026 family update: nothing found that confirms the wreckage.
Malaysia signed with Ocean Infinity on 25 March 2025. Phase 1 ran 25–28 March 2025 before weather intervened; Transport Minister Anthony Loke noted it was not the season. A resumption was announced for 30 December 2025. Phase 2 ran 31 December 2025 to 23 January 2026. Across 28 operational days the ministry reported approximately 7,571 km² surveyed inside the defined 15,000 km² area, plus additional pre-contract survey work claimed by the company in the broader region. On 8 March 2026 — the twelfth anniversary — families were told that nothing found so far confirms the location of the wreckage.
