Last attributed radio call: “Good night Malaysian three seven zero.” Home simulator files exist; the 2018 report did not treat them as a reconstructed plan. Who was flying after IGARI is open.
Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, 53, held type rating on the 777 with a long Malaysia Airlines career and high hours. Wikipedia and the 2018 report put him at about 18,365 hours. The official investigation attributed the last VHF transmission to him. Police imaged a PC simulator at his home; restored coordinates have been mapped by commentators onto a southern-Indian-Ocean path. The Annex 13 report characterised that activity as consistent with hobbyist use and did not conclude premeditation. Background review found no proven personal or professional stressor that the team treated as causal. He remains a person of investigative interest because he was on the flight deck, not because the report named a perpetrator.
